January 2018 Topic: Budding Business – A Primer on Recent Marijuana Laws in California by Michele “Shelly” Brooke.

Shelly has practiced law since 2011, having obtained her license through the State Bar Law Office Program. After she passed the bar, she opened her own practice and almost immediately began to practice in the area of medical marijuana business law. Currently, cannabis business law is her primary area of practice. Her clients are Cannabis business entrepreneurs. She writes regularly for one of the top marijuana industry magazines Marijuana Venture Magazine, as well as speak frequently on issues impacting the cannabis business industry, presenting to the National Business Institute (NBI), Pincus, Native Nations, and various bar associations. She has also been featured in several interviews with Pasadena Now and other publications.

Meeting Description: The TEN Downtown Lunch Group offers practitioners an efficient, time sensitive (1 hour and 15 minutes), and high quality networking opportunity during the lunch hour. In addition, our meeting is held at the PWC Building in Downtown Los Angeles (601 S. Figueroa Street, 25th Floor), making it centrally located to everyone in TEN. Also, the noon-hour meeting reduces travel time commitments as it occurs during non-peak travel times. Lunch will be provided. Also, those who arrive no later than noon will be entered to win a gift card as a reward for their diligence.

Parking Considerations:

Option 1 (Quickest Parking) – Park at Engine Co. No. 28, 644 S. Figueroa Street, Los Angeles, California 90017. Valet for $15. Cross the street caddy-corner to our building.

Option 2 (Cheapest Parking) – Park at Fig at 7th Shopping Center, 945 W. 8th St., Los Angeles. Park on L1, L2, or L3. 2 hours- $2.50; 3 hours $4.00 (with validation). Walk 2 blocks east up Figueroa Street to our building.

Option 3 (Millennial Style) – Take Red Line Metro Train to 7th Street Metro Center. Navigate to 7th and Figueroa, and walk 1 block east up Figueroa Street to our building.
